UFC Flyweight Title Fight on Weight for TUF 24 Finale

Saturday’s UFC main event flyweight title fight is set after champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and challenger Tim Elliott stepped on the scale in Las Vegas at Friday’s early morning official weigh-in.

Demetrious JohnsonJohnson, who weighed 124.5 pounds, is on a 10-fight winning streak, and has been nearly unstoppable at flyweight. He’s also widely considered the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Running out of contenders, the UFC used season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter to bring flyweight champions together from around the globe to fight it out for a chance to challenge Johnson.

Tim ElliottElliott, the former Titan FC champion, won four fights on the show to make his way to the title fight. He’s not new to the UFC, however. He fought in the Octagon as recently as February 2015, exiting the promotion on a three-fight skid.

After hitting the championship mark of 125 pounds, Elliott will look to make up for his rough first run through the promotion by upsetting the top flyweight in the world.

The co-main event features a bitter battle between top flyweight contenders Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo, who coached the other flyweights on The Ultimate Fighter.

More Changes Coming To UFC Weigh-In Events Starting This Month

conor-mcgregor-205-weighin

Those that enjoyed watching men – and women – step on the scale for ceremonial weigh-ins ahead of UFC events might need to find their enjoyment elsewhere soon. The upcoming UFC Fight Night 102 card from New York will not feature any of the ceremonial weigh-ins, only using the official ones in front of the New York Athletic Association. According to a report by MMAjunkie, portions of the official weigh-in will be recorded and posted on UFC.com and UFC Fight Pass later in the day. The UFC also released a statement regarding the decision:
“As UFC, in conjunction with the respective State Athletic Commissions, continues to look at opportunities to improve athlete health and safety and provide better weight management opportunities, it will also review its current weigh-in event format,” a statement from UFC officials reads. “As such, the official New York State Athletic Commission weigh-in for ‘UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Abdurakhimov’ will be the only weigh-in event in Albany.”

Conor McGregor

On Thursday, Westgate opened odds for the “dream” match between Mayweather and McGregor, with “Money” coming in as a -2500 betting favorite. They have McGregor listed at +1100.
